Water

Yesterday,  we finally had a little rain.  It was heavy at times and came down off and on for a three hour period.  This morning the Smokey the Bear sign says that fire danger is very high.  This sign since mid-July has been telling us that the fire danger is extreme.

Last night, we had a hail storm.  Pea size hail.

This morning, I was excited to see fog hanging in the mountain valleys.

The rain water refreshed the colors.  Autumn tints are already showing on the mountains.  Last night, autumn color was added to our walk with leaves that the hail had helped to fall.  Looking up I notice that the acorns are starting to ripen to brown.

Summer Rain

An evening summer rain. Large, quick drops, splash through leaves and drum on the roof. The scent of heat and earth.  A rain dance.  As a child I loved to dance in a warm summer rain, as I got older I shared this joy with my niece.

Summer Rain

Lightening, thunder, a downpour of rain moves on, the scent of a summer rain lingers.

Yellow gold

The leaves of my mother's hosta  plants have turned a yellow gold as have the leaves of Box Elder and Cottonwood  trees along the river.  Today's rain had added intensity to the autumn shades of yellow gold as well as adding a foggy mist trapped in the dark evergreens higher up the canyon walls.  The oaks on the south facing canyon slopes have deepened into a rusty bronze.  The maple have dropped their leaves on the slopes, but a few leaves of orange still cling to the maples in my mother's garden.  And now, the sunny is breaking through the clouds.  Yellow gold.

Yaw!

A crack of lightening, a roar of thunder. Gray sky split open to drop a late summer downpour.  The scent of rain in the air after a long hot, dry summer.

Rain?

High level gray clouds a July rain would be appreciated.

Ogden Marathon

Today's marathoners are experiencing a windy, wet run through the canyon.

Where is the rainbow

This morning my sunrise came with a rainy down pour.  On our morning walk, Mollie and I used the trees for cover.  Sunlight shined through the sheets of rain.  I looked but could not find a rainbow.
Later, I viewed rainbows shared by others on TV during the local weather report.

Spring Rain

A good soaking rain with its gray sky enhance the greens of spring.

Rain,Rain,Rain

Another downpour today.  Rain water flooding the gutters and spraying up through sewer grates.  The spray of puddle water as car speed by.  We are set to make the record, it is the ninth wettest ( after Monday's rain it is now the eighth wetest) May on record for Utah.

With the rain, has come green.  The plants in my mothers garden are green with pink blooms on the bleeding hearts, lupines and cyclamen.  All colors of Iceland poppies add their lovely brightness to the garden, while small blue forget-me-not also add highlights of color.

Looking out my window, I am pleased to see a patch of blue sky amount the cumulus, white, fluffy clouds.  The gray clouds having moved on for a moment or two.  Maybe a break in the rain, rain,rain.

Rain?

We must have had a minor drizzle last night, the road showed signs of rain.  The early morning sun danced through the maple leaves, and lilac scented the breeze.  Mollie and I were out early, a quick walk before the day started.

Yesterday, we visited local nurseries.  Mom purchased more Iceland poppies for the garden, while I found some pea starts.  Peas although not abundant, do fine in the canyon.  And they are such a treat in June when they mature.

Many of the tulips are starting to fade.  They were  cheerful.  I love how their bloom seem to glow in the sunlight.  Their showy splash of color on a long straight green stem surrounded with large blades of leaves that seem to reach and then flop, curving back to the ground.

The sun is now in a dance with intermenent skies of clouds and blue.  The forecast is for rain.

Spring Green

Recent rain has made the grass in our yard and on the hillside turn green.   The addition of warmth and periods of sunshine have made the canyon's choke cherry trees pop green leaves.  Spring green!

Weather change

I awaken to the heady scent and drip,splash sound of rain.  The breeze through my opened window has cooled.

Then, the rainstorm moved on too soon.

Rain

And the rain came pouring down.

Mollie came in this morning with raindrops in her fur.  She snuggled in close to share them with me.

Our April showers have finally come at the end of May, to water our May flowers.  May has been warm and dry, so the rain is welcome.

It's raining, it's snowing, the weather changing.

A Touch of Fall

A touch of autumn color is showing up on the mountain trees.  A rainstorm is expected, I already hear thunder.  The clouds have made the afternoon dark.  A good rain would be a good change and maybe brighten the autumn colors.

Only a few drops of rain fell.

Summer Monsoons

Last night we had a wet storm that dropped much needed rain.  It continued throughout the night into the morning hours.  While waiting in my car for an appointment, I worked on this:
