Morning Breeze

A beautiful morning walk.  The sunlight is dancing with the green leaves through a morning breeze.

A May Flower

A sweet scent in the air.  The flower of May is in bloom.  Perfect white bells with scalloped small curled petals on slight green stems curl out from square central stem.  Curved, broad, obate leaves protect the floral stem.  A lily of the valley grows, and bloom among other lilies of the valley under a canyon chokecherry in the side yard of my mother's garden.

A few picked stems with a leaf or two are arranged in a small glass vase filled with water.  A sweet scent fills the air in my room.

Where is the rainbow

This morning my sunrise came with a rainy down pour.  On our morning walk, Mollie and I used the trees for cover.  Sunlight shined through the sheets of rain.  I looked but could not find a rainbow.
Later, I viewed rainbows shared by others on TV during the local weather report.

May Showers bring Hay Fever

There is an old saying that April showers bring may flowers.  This year I have observed that May showers bring field of tall green June grass.  The vacant lots throughout  the city have grasses 8 to 12 inches in height.  They are grasses along the road ways.  These grass will soon bloom, and hay fever will abound.

Morning view

My bedroom window looks to the west.  So I do not see the sunrise, but I do see the sky change.  During the early morning, it is dark with pinpoint stars.  Later it is gray, and blue gray.  Then a little later still, a cloud glows golden.  Now the tree tops are catching the sunlight.  The day has begun.

Wind

Strong winds yesterday and last night brought down branches, trees, roof shingles, and fences.  My niece had  a large walnut tree blow over.  It snapped the roots.  The root ball that came up was about ten feet tall and twelve feet wide.  The tree covered the neighbors backyard, fortunately missing their house.

Ah!

Ah, a warm Spring day.  Blue skies with puffy cumulus clouds.  Temperatures in the low eighties.  An afternoon off.  Fresh green grass between my toes!

Notes

I spent a portion of the day, writing notes.  I found a packet of card that say "Good-bye Winter! Hello Spring! ". Inside "Welcome, every lovely thing that makes this time of year so beautiful.  Enjoy!"   They were perfect for sending Spring wishes to friends.  I hope that you will also enjoy a similar Spring wish.  Enjoy!

View

Outside my window,  I have been watching the buds on the maple tree green and grow.  I anticipate they will soon burst into leaves and flowers.  The maple tree's blossoms are not as showy as those of the fruit trees, but still a sign of spring.

A Easter Surprise

I had an package arrive in the mail today.  It contained an Easter Surprise from a friend that has moved away from Ogden.  A gray felted bunny Easter basket an old fashion card comprised the surprise contents of the package.  Such a nice thought and fun gift from a friend.

The gray felt bunny is now holding a glass vast of lavender tulips from the grocery store, with the old fashion card featured nearby.

The best of Easter and Spring wishes to you, all!

Spring 2016

This weekend I was so excited to see apricot trees in bloom and to see my first butterflies of the season.  Violets, snow drops, daffodils, crocus and dandelions are in bloom.  I planted pansies for my doorstep.  A first peek at Spring 2016.

Sunset

A small sunset painting,  I finished.

Snowdrop Blooms

The garden is filled with snowdrops.  The warm days have melted more snow, awaking these lovely white and green pendulum blooms.

Snow melt

With the lovely Spring temperatures, the snow is melting.  My mother was out raking the yard today. The winter was hard on the garden.  Early winter windstorms and heavy snow brought down trees and branches.  Spring cleaning will involve the removal of theses trees and branches.   We will need a number of warm spring days to melt the snow, and give us a chance for spring cleaning in the garden..

It's March

A taste of Spring, a few sunny warm days.  But it is March, so today brought rain, snow and just a peak of sunshine.

Winter Moon Rise

This evening before sunset a luminous full moon rises in a powder blue sky over snow and dark pine covered peaks.
Research indicates the January full moon is known as a wolf moon.

Last Day of 2015

New Year's Eve Day is a day to look back at your accomplishment and to look forward, to dream of what you wish to accomplish in the upcoming year.
The day in Ogden Canyon started with chilled cold air, snow covered ground, and powder blue skies. There were even a few lazy flakes floating down.  Yah, but the sun is now peering over the mountain.  A beautiful cold day.  2015 has been filled with a number of beautiful days,  my dream for 2016 is to remind myself to take time to enjoy the beauty around me.  Sometimes with work, I may shut myself into my office, not noticing that the day has rushed by.
May you also remind yourself to stop for a moment to enjoy the beauty around you!
