First Saturday Farmer's Market
Our first Saturday Farmer's/ Artist's Market was held this morning. Fresh peas, green beans, cherries, green onions, beet greens, visiting with artists and friends that I have not seen since the last Saturday Market last October.
Over Trapper's Loop
I am pet sitting in Layton. I came home this morning over Trapper's Loop, one of my favorite drives. My mother believes that I enjoy this drive as before I was born but very near my birth, my grandfather took her over Trapper's Loop to quicken my birth.

Sweet Green Peas
I have enjoyed reading a year in Haiku. I have also enjoyed raising peas in my small garden. A haiku to share:
A handful of sweet
green peas from my own garden.
Yum! What a delight!
And a second written a while back while walking Mollie and thinking of the year in haiku blog.
Flashes of color
Whistles and trills of bird song

Tanka - A Perfect Evening
Through the evergreens
sparks an orange-gold sunset
above dancing oaks
chimes played by a breeze
at my side a dog, Chula.
In a lovely wooded backyard a park bench is nestled under the oaks. I am house sitting a sweet dog named Chula.
View from Ogden's East Mountains
As for house sitting, I am in a house that is high up on Mountains east of Ogden. The view is fantastic. The dog is a bright-eye Australian Shepherd. Their yard is delightful. The front yard is filled with lovely flowers and the backyard is forested by oaks and evergreens.
Update Blog
I have been house sitting so have not taken the time to update.

On Wednesday, Mollie and I went to mow the lawn at the cabin. We were impressed with the amount of cotton collected in the grass.
It was fun to see that the thimble berries bushes were ready to bust intoblossoms, and to view the blossoms that were already out.

Pendant Design
My "Cloth Paper Scissors" magazine came today. It had pictures from the pendant reader swap. I had planned to participate in this swap but didn't my pendant finished until today. I was able to finally figure out a way to create a handwoven charm.

Change of venue
Mollie and I decided to change the route of our walk this evening. We decided a trip to our cabin in Southfork would be a nice change.
We walked along the dirt road enjoying the green of leaves and grass, the golden low angle light slicing through the trees cutting our path in to light and shadow. White cotton flowing in the air, soon collects in the plants edging the path. The birds sing, and hummingbird buzz by. In the background the rush of water.
Our path takes us across a bridge, weathered to silver gray; wood interlocked; wooden treads for car travel under our feet. The river is filled with spring runoff that splashes over boulders, rushing towards Pineview dam.
Our cabin seems secluded even though it is nestled between other more grand cabins. The grand cabins are for weekend use.

Contrasts in the Garden
More Flowers from Mom's garden
A couple more small paintings
I enjoy playing with watercolor, but really need to take a few more classes to explore painting backgrounds. I learned how to apply a watercolor wash from Annette Orrock, and have take a couple of classes from Terry C. Johnson and yes of course I took these at the Eccles Community Art Center.

No Camera
What a beautiful morning. At the Hermitage ruin, the foreground a field of white lace like flowers, maples in spring green highlighted in morning sun before the dark greens of pines, spruces, and firs, back dropped by a sliver, white veil of fog framed with blue-gray limestone cliffs. Birds singing to the morning sun as it sparkles on captured drops from last night's rain. And no camera.

The scent of lilacs
Due to the rainy weather, I thought I might miss the scent of lilacs this year. I was so pleased that the lilac waited. They must appreciate warm spring days over cool, damp ones. This evening, Mollie and I enjoyed our walk through lilac perfumed air.
See last years post about lilacs:
