Misleading

Our January thaw with blue skies and sunshine is misleading.  Snowdrops' green tips are poking out.  The willow's catkin's toes are showing.  Wait there are still the snows of February and March to happen.

Moon Dance

A silver full moon
dances with wispy white clouds
in a twilight sky.

The moon was so large and beautiful this evening.  I wish that theses pictures showed more of that beauty.

Brighten the Day-A Second Look

While the Gerber Daisies have faded.  The Mums are still bright and cheerful.

Fog

I enjoy the fog of Spring and Fall that hangs in the mountain valleys like dragon's breath and burns off with the sun.  The ground fog of winter that cloaks everything in a dismal gray is another matter.

I am again, searching for the sun.

Looking for the Sun

During our travels, we hoped that the sun would break through the haze.  We finally found it.

Acceptable Addiction

I spend a portion of my evening, wandering up and down rows of shelves enjoying the colors, textures, and words in used and new books at the bookstore.

Brighten the Day

This evening after a gray winter day, I walked in to the grocery store, saw a bouquet of fresh flowers.  I purchased daisies - bright and cheerful, to brightened up the gray day!

Started a new book - "The Sugar Queen" by Sarah Addison Allen

Quote: "If she could eat the cold air, she would.  She thought cold snaps were like cookies, like gingersnaps. ... they where made with white chocolate chunks and had a cool, brittle vanilla frosting.  They melted  like snow in her mouth, turning creamy and warm."

Isn't this a lovely image, it could almost make me like winter and cold.

I started and finished this book today.  I have also read and enjoyed her book "Garden Spells"

Lazy Snow

Small flakes of lazy snow fall from a blue winter sky filled with almost invisible wisps of clouds.  My inner child tries to catch the snowflakes on my tongue, but they melt in my warm breath.

Light Dusting Of Snow

Last night after we were asleep, a storm brought a new dusting of snow.  We awoke this morning to new fresh powder.  Only about a inch of new snow, just enough to refresh things and to take the haze out of the atmosphere.

My neighbor, a skier is off to the slopes for new powder.

Looking for beauty in Winter

Snow laced branches
Against a cloudless blue sky.
Winter's beauty found.

Snow crystals sparkle
in the refracting sunlight;
Winter's diamonds.
