View from Ogden's East Mountains

As for house sitting, I am in a house that is high up on Mountains east of Ogden. The view is fantastic. The dog is a bright-eye Australian Shepherd. Their yard is delightful. The front yard is filled with lovely flowers and the backyard is forested by oaks and evergreens.

Contrasts in the Garden

In art, we learn about complimentary colors as well as light and shadow. The garden is filled with contrasts and complimentary colors.

If you look

If you look you may find beauty!  Mollie and I saw many signs of spring during our Sunday morning walk.  Mollie is getting more patient with my stopping to take pictures.  The clouds were lovely.  And while trees are blooming in town, the canyon is about two week behind.  So I get to enjoy spring twice.  I hope that you will take a moment in your day to look for beauty!

Mollie in the act

As usual Mollie has to get involved.  Here is another picture with her adding to the view, and a few more of the golden autumn afternoon.

Indian Summer

I am not sure why it is called Indian Summer, but I am enjoying the warm, golden fall weekend especially after last weekend.  Just the yellow and gold leaves are left.

October 12, 2008 *snow*

On Saturday, October 11, a early fall snow started.  It was mostly slush, but it turned the conifer higher up into frosted white trees.

Then on Sunday, October 12th we woke to snow covered ground.

Rainbow

Friday with an incoming storm, a rainbow appeared for a short time over the mountains. This is the best thing about digital cameras, you can keep them at hand and don't need to worry about film.

Sumac

A then there is the sumac whose leaves flame in fall red, yellow and orange.

Virginia Creeper

On our evening walk, Mollie and I enjoy exploring the beauty of the canyon.  Here are some shots of the Virginia creeper i just thought that I should share.

Flowers and insects

Digital cameras are great, sometimes.  Here are some close up shots that actually worked.
Mom has allowed some sunflowers to grow wild in the garden.  They are beautiful bright pieces of sunshine.
